The shooting was carried out from a submerged position at a target position imitating a large surface ship of a simulated enemy. The target was at a distance of more than 120 km from the launch point. The shooting area was previously closed to civilian shipping and aviation.

After successful rocket firing, the affected target was examined by the crew of the Il-38 anti-submarine aircraft of a separate mixed air regiment of the Air Force and Air Defense Army of the Northern Fleet. According to the command, the Eagle’s crew successfully coped with the assigned task, demonstrating high professionalism and naval training.

On October 7, the Russian Ministry of Defense published a video from the site of the successful test of the Zircon missile. The launches took place a day earlier from the White Sea, they were conducted by the lead frigate of Project 22350 “Admiral of the Soviet Union Fleet Gorshkov” against a sea target in the Barents Sea.
