On September 1, a Russian Su-27 fighter intercepted a German Air Force plane over the Baltic Sea. The incident was reported at the Russian National Defense Control Center, which is part of the country’s Defense Ministry.
“The crew of the Russian fighter identified the aerial target as a P-3C Orion patrol aircraft of the German Air Force. After the German aircraft turned away from the state border of the Russian Federation, the Russian fighter safely returned to the airfield, ”the center told reporters.
The Russian border was not violated as a result of the incident.
This is the second interception at the Russian border in a day. Earlier, a MiG-31 fighter from the air defense forces of the Northern Fleet on duty rose to intercept a Norwegian patrol aircraft over the Barents Sea. There was no violation of the country’s borders.
