It is noted that Russian air controls detected two air targets approaching the state border. To identify them, a Su-27 fighter from the air defense forces on duty took off into the air.

“The crew of the Russian fighter consistently identified the air targets as the German Navy’s P-3C Orion patrol aircraft and the US Air Force U-2S reconnaissance aircraft, after which they escorted them over the Baltic Sea,” the center said.

It is indicated that no violation of the Russian border was allowed. The fighter returned to the home base after the turn of foreign military aircraft. The flight took place strictly in accordance with international rules for the use of airspace, the defense ministry stressed.

On October 21, Russian MiG-31 and Su-35 fighters climbed to intercept two US Air Force B-1B strategic bombers over the Bering Sea. There was no violation of the state border of the Russian Federation.

The Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, General of the Army Valery Gerasimov, after the completion of the Caucasus-2020 exercise on September 26, said that recently, 20-30 km from the Russian border, there has been an increased activity of the US and NATO military.
