Russian fighter Su-27 on Tuesday, September 8, escorted reconnaissance aircraft of the United States and Sweden over the Baltic. This was announced by the National Defense Control Center of the Russian Federation.
They noted that the plane was raised to identify air targets and prevent violations of the state border.
“The crew of the Russian fighter identified the air targets as the US Air Force RC-135 strategic reconnaissance aircraft and the Swedish Air Force Gulfstream reconnaissance aircraft,” the center said.
After the foreign aircraft turned away from the Russian border, the Su-27 returned to the home airfield.
Earlier on the same day, a Russian MiG-29 fighter intercepted a P-3C Orion aircraft of the Norwegian Air Force over the Barents Sea. There was no violation of the state border.
