A Russian fighter jet intercepted two American reconnaissance aircraft over the Black Sea. This is the second interception in 24 hours, the Russian national defense control center reported on Friday, September 11.
Aircraft approaching the border were seen over neutral waters. The crew of the Russian Su-27 fighter identified them as the US Air Force RC-135 strategic reconnaissance aircraft and the US Navy’s P-8A Poseidon patrol aircraft.
After the turn of foreign military aircraft from the border of the Russian Federation, the Russian fighter safely returned to the home airfield.
Earlier on September 11, a MiG-31 fighter intercepted a Norwegian Air Force radio reconnaissance aircraft over the Barents Sea.
On the eve of the MiG-29, it also climbed to intercept two aircraft of the Norwegian Air Force over the Barents Sea. No border violations were allowed.
