A Russian plane intercepted the second foreign aircraft of the day at the border – the strategic reconnaissance aircraft R.1 Sentinel of the British Air Force. This was reported at the National Defense Management Center on Monday, September 7.
The MiG-29 climbed to intercept. After the foreign plane turned around, he returned to base. No border violation allowed.
Earlier on September 7, a Norwegian Air Force was intercepted in the same area.
Last week, similar interceptions of Norwegian aircraft occurred four times: 1, 3, 4 and 5 September.
On September 3, the MiG-31 also intercepted US and British reconnaissance aircraft over the Barents Sea.
