Three aerial targets were detected by radar reconnaissance systems of the air defense forces of the Southern Military District, American aircraft were approaching the state border of the Russian Federation from the Ukrainian side. Two Su-27 and two Su-30 were raised into the sky.
“The crews of the Russian fighters identified the air targets as three B-52H strategic bombers of the US Air Force and escorted them over the Black Sea,” the NTSUO said.
There was no violation of the state borders of the Russian Federation. After the removal of the US Air Force B-52, Russian fighters returned to their home airfields.
The last time American bombers were seen near the borders of the Russian Federation in the skies over the Black Sea on September 4. At the beginning of the month, 43 reconnaissance aircraft were conducting intelligence activities along the Russian borders, and three drones were also found.
On September 6, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the aviation of NATO member countries was making regular flights, imitating the delivery of missile strikes on Russian territory.
Later, the military department reported that on August 28, the B-52H Stratofortress bombers of the US Air Force were practicing airstrikes on Russia during the Allied Sky exercises. The Defense Ministry stressed that such actions “are hostile and provocative.”
