Dreadnought of the XXI century: what means a successful test launch of “Zircon” The latest supersonic cruise missile will take the combat capabilities of the Russian Navy to a new level

“Vasily Bykov” spent several months on campaigns. During this time, various weapons and life support systems of the corvette were tested. Previously, it was believed that the project 22160 PCs are not very suitable for the Arctic, but the corvette coped with all the tasks.

According to the former chief of the main headquarters of the Navy, Admiral Valentin Selivanov, the corvette’s successful cruise showed that, if necessary, Project 22160 PKs could be sent to the northern seas to counter submarines.

“The ship was given a number of tasks: to check how hydroacoustic instruments, air and sea monitoring equipment, and how to use weapons as needed, work in these latitudes. This is a very rewarding trip. He will give a lot of data to plan the construction of other ships of this series, ”he stressed.

Thanks to the modular scheme, according to which the ships of the project 22160 are made, it is possible to quickly install weapons on them to perform a specific combat mission. Hydroacoustic stations and other equipment are housed in sea containers that are installed on the ship.

Now the Navy has two Project 22160 PCs – “Vasily Bykov” and “Dmitry Rogachev”. Both are in the Black Sea Fleet. They were specially developed for the protection of ships during sea crossings and the protection of naval bases.
