Navy confirms incident with Russian ship in Baltic Sea

“In conditions of poor visibility, the Ice Rose refrigerated vessel under the flag of the Marshall Islands collided with the Kazanets small anti-submarine ship of the Baltic Fleet. As a result of the collision, there are no casualties among the crew of the Russian ship, ”TASS reports from the Baltic Fleet.

Kazanets received a hole above the waterline and is now returning under its own power to the basing point in Baltiysk. The Baltic Fleet Commission is investigating the circumstances of the incident.

The incident was previously reported by the Danish Armed Forces. It was noted that the collision of the refrigerated vessel Ice Rose with a Russian frigate occurred in the strait between Denmark and Sweden in thick fog. It was clarified that the Danish ship was heading from St. Petersburg to Gothenburg.
